The sole originator of the Hiplife genre which combines traditional melody with rap, Reggie Rockstone, has expressed disdain at Shatta Wale’s comment about his legacy.
In a viral video, Shatta Wale was seen castigating the diss song released by Sarkodie. In that interview with TV3, he went ahead to say he blames Reggie Rockstone for introducing the rap music to Ghana.
According to Shatta Wale, Reggie Rockstone, since then, has not made any impact with rap music or hiplife.
‘I blame Reggie Rockstone for introducing the rap music because he has not made any impact with it,” Shatta Wale said
His comment about Reggie Rockstone was seen as disrespectful by many who watched the video. It appears Shatta Wale is trying to muddy the waters between himself, Sarkodie and Reggie Rockstone.

In a very subtle yet mocking reply, Reggie Rockstone made fun of Shatta Wale’s quality and choice of lyrics. Though the comment is short, it appears Reggie Rockstone is saying that Shatta Wale lacks musical dexterity and cannot make good music without tarnishing it with mediocre language.
